A Perspective
Few Companies Possess

DIVVO Global exists because we've seen firsthand what happens after assets disappear.

Most stolen cargo doesn't disappear. It gets sold. Thieves don't steal to store — they steal to convert inventory into cash, as quickly as possible. That means it moves through secondary markets, liquidation channels, and resale networks long before most owners know it's missing.

For years, we've operated inside those markets — where excess inventory, liquidation goods, and secondary-market merchandise change hands every day. That experience gave us something few recovery organizations possess: we know where stolen merchandise goes next.

That experience provides a perspective few companies possess.

Other investigators ask where the shipment went.
DIVVO knows where the merchandise goes next.

DIVVO Global works with manufacturers, brands, distributors, logistics providers, and other organizations to help identify, recover, and protect assets while reducing future risk. By combining industry relationships, strategic partnerships, investigative coordination, and operational expertise, we help organizations respond to losses, strengthen controls, and build more resilient supply chains.

We don't just help recover assets — we help prevent the next loss from happening.

Case Studies

$1.2M+
Shipment Value
Vast Majority
Of Shipment Secured

A consumer goods manufacturer contacted us after discovering a shipment valued at more than $1.2 million had been diverted from the port and never reached its intended warehouse destination.

Drawing on years of experience operating within the secondary market, we leveraged our industry relationships, market visibility, and extensive network to trace the inventory as it was being offered for resale.

Working alongside law enforcement, we helped coordinate the recovery effort and successfully secured the vast majority of the shipment, resulting in the return of substantial assets to the manufacturer.

This case highlights the value of industry knowledge, strategic relationships, and rapid action when high-value cargo is diverted from the supply chain.

Identified — Recovery
Ongoing

DIVVO Global identified an unusually high volume of electronics being offered across the secondary market — multiple truckloads appearing in rapid succession, inconsistent with any legitimate liquidation or overstock scenario. The pattern, the pricing, and the quantities pointed to a significant diversion event.

We contacted the brand directly. They connected us with their shipper, who confirmed the losses and engaged DIVVO to assist in recovery efforts. What emerged was a multi-truck theft involving five separate loads, each valued at approximately $2 million.

Working alongside local law enforcement, DIVVO has to date successfully recovered one truck in full. Two additional loads have been located and are in active recovery proceedings. The remaining two trucks are currently under active investigation.

This case is ongoing. It illustrates both the scale that secondary-market diversion can reach and the critical advantage of having a partner who monitors those markets in real time — before the brand even knows the merchandise is missing.

A Lesson in Timing

We identified a national electronics brand's products in a questionable market and reached out directly but received no response. Shortly after, local law enforcement, familiar with our previous collaboration, contacted us, as they were also in discussions with the brand.

Even after we offered assistance again, the company ultimately chose not to engage. Unfortunately, by the time decisions were made, the merchandise had already been scattered and lost across the market.

This highlights how timing can mean the difference between recovery and loss.

Understanding How
Stolen Cargo Moves

Most recovery failures aren't failures of effort. They're failures of understanding. Here's what actually happens after cargo disappears — and why it matters.

The Basics
Most Stolen Cargo Doesn't Disappear. It Gets Sold.

Cargo theft is not a storage problem. Thieves steal to convert inventory into cash — as fast as possible. That means stolen merchandise enters the market quickly, often within hours or days of a theft event.

The question is never just "where did the shipment go?" The question is "where is the merchandise being offered right now?"

Secondary markets, liquidation channels, online resale platforms, and cash-and-carry distributors are the pathways. Understanding those pathways is the difference between recovery and a total loss.

Theft Mechanics
What Happens After the GPS Stops

Most cargo tracking devices — GPS units, trailer trackers, even seal sensors — monitor the container or vehicle, not the merchandise inside it. Once a load is transferred, the tracker becomes irrelevant.

The typical sequence after a professional cargo theft: the trailer is located quickly, often within the first 24–48 hours. But the merchandise is already gone — offloaded at a staging location, repalletized, broken into smaller lots, and moving toward the market.

Trackers tell you where the truck stopped. DIVVO follows what was inside it.
The 72-Hour Window
Why Timing Is the Most Critical Factor in Recovery

Cargo theft recovery operates on a compressed timeline. In the first 24–72 hours after a theft, merchandise is most traceable — it hasn't yet been fully dispersed, repackaged, or absorbed into legitimate-looking inventory flows.

After that window closes, recovery becomes progressively harder. Products are relabeled, repackaged, mixed with legitimate stock, or moved across state lines. Each step creates another layer of separation between the theft event and the merchandise.

Cargo theft isn't always a recovery problem. Sometimes it's a time problem.

Rapid engagement — with a partner who knows where to look — is the single most important factor in whether stolen inventory is recovered.

How Thieves Stay Mobile
Repackaging, Load Transfers & Market Dispersal

Professional cargo theft organizations don't simply steal and sell. They move merchandise through several steps designed to obscure its origin and make recovery difficult:

Load Transfer: Cargo is moved from the stolen trailer to a different vehicle, often within hours, at a pre-arranged staging location. The original trailer is abandoned.

Repackaging: Products are removed from original cartons, reboxed, relabeled, or mixed with legitimate inventory to make the lot appear to have a clean source.

Market Dispersal: Rather than selling the entire lot to a single buyer — which creates risk — sophisticated operations break loads into smaller quantities offered through multiple channels simultaneously.

The dispersal strategy is specifically designed to make recovery feel impossible. It isn't — if you know the market.

Seen Something
That Doesn't Add Up?

DIVVO Global provides confidential preliminary assessments for buyers, liquidators, distributors, and others who encounter suspicious inventory. We can help you determine whether what you've been offered is legitimate before you make a decision.

"If someone offered you 20,000 units of your own product tomorrow — would you know who to call?"

DIVVO Global works confidentially with brands, buyers, and investigators to verify suspicious inventory before it moves further through the market.
